New GCSE figures confirm a further drop in creative subjects
Two years ago, the EBacc consultation closed. A year ago #BaccDown was trending on Twitter. And today, the EBacc is still undermining creative subjects in secondary schools.
Figures released by the Department for Education have confirmed our fears that 2017 we saw another 8% drop in creative GCSEs. This is on top of an 8% drop in 2016.
Our concerns are now backed by compelling evidence from a new BBC survey, a report by the independent Education Policy Institute, research by the University of Sussex, and figures from the Cultural Learning Alliance.
